Calexico U.S. Port of Entry

Calexico, CA

The Challenge

The Calexico U.S. Port of Entry buildings were built in 1932 and 1970. The existing HVAC equipment and controls were old, poorly maintained, and in need of major repairs. The facility also needed ongoing maintenance to ensure continued comfort, efficiency, and onsite responsiveness.

The Solution

OneSource installed a completely open LON system with LONMark certified devices from multiple manufacturers. In addition to the local workstation, OneSource installed dedicated Internet connectivity via a satellite uplink, which is providing the GSA Administration with real time monitoring, energy asset control, and energy trending using any web browser.

The Benefit

Customer service calls were reduced from 133 to 46 from the time the project began to February 2001. A 2001 tenant satisfaction survey indicated an overall 87% satisfaction rating based on a 98% survey response rate.
